The initiative you own

You will build an enduring editorial institution for one of the most consequential changes in human work. You will shape the thesis, standards, body of work, and community of writers that help serious readers understand collective intelligence.

Why this role exists now

AI is becoming part of how people reason, create, organize, teach, remember, and decide what matters. Codespeed sits close to frontier research, living product work, first customers, and questions that will define this era. We need an editor who can turn that proximity into original, rigorous work that remains worth reading long after the news cycle moves.

What success changes

At approximately six months

• Codespeed Press has a clear thesis, publication standard, calendar, and way to develop original work.
• Research, sourcing, fact-checking, and review practices support ambitious technical and cultural arguments.

At approximately twelve months

• Codespeed Press has a coherent body of work that serious readers recognize, trust, and return to.
• Founder Letters, essays, research, and field writing form one institution with a distinct intellectual contribution.

What the work requires

• Set the editorial thesis, standards, calendar, and body of work for Codespeed Press.
• Develop founder observations and company learning into original arguments while preserving the authorial voice.
• Commission and edit contributors across technology, history, philosophy, literature, science, political economy, education, and other fields that sharpen the work.
• Build the research, sourcing, fact-checking, and review practices that support ambitious ideas.
• Stay close to Product, Applied, and Labs so the writing begins in real work and reaches its human questions.

The authority you hold

• You own editorial standards, commissioning, editing, the calendar, and the readiness bar for Codespeed Press.
• You can challenge the founder directly and protect the argument until it is ready. The founder owns her voice and final company positions.
• Editorial decides the readiness and form of the work. Marketing leads distribution, and company owners validate claims about their work.

• Your editing and writing make difficult ideas clearer, sharper, and more trustworthy.
• Your intellectual foundation is broad, whether it began in literature, history, philosophy, journalism, criticism, science, or another field.
• Complex technical material holds your attention, and you find the human question inside it with precision.
• Your taste lets you challenge a founder directly and recognize what an argument needs before publication.
• Technical curiosity and the desire to understand systems deeply are essential. Coding experience is optional.

How you will work at Codespeed

You work directly with the founder and stay close to Product, Applied, Labs, Marketing, contributors, and questions emerging from real work. Codespeed supports research, synthesis, critique, and editorial operations. You remain accountable for judgment, standards, and every published claim.

Employment reality

All current roles are full-time and based in our New York office. During the process, we make the weekly cadence, cash compensation, equity, active benefits, relocation support, and visa posture explicit before any paid collaboration or offer.
