The initiative you own

You will take one of Codespeed’s defining product initiatives from first principles through production. You own the judgment that frames it, the architecture and implementation, the way we verify it, the customer experience it creates, and the learning that shapes what comes next.

Why this role exists now

Codespeed is closing the product required for trustworthy real-customer use while our first deployments teach us what capable AI workforces need around them. The hardest work crosses models, product behavior, infrastructure, security, and economics. We need engineers who can see the whole system and carry one consequential initiative all the way through it.

What success changes

At approximately six months

  • Your primary initiative is in production and has created meaningful new behavior for customers or the company.
  • Its product intent, architecture, verification, rollout, and customer learning form one legible body of work.

At approximately twelve months

  • Your initiative has become a compounding capability with observable quality, reliability, and customer value.
  • Other engineers and specialists can extend it because its architecture, decisions, and outcomes are clear.

What the work requires

  • Own one primary initiative across Codespeed Intelligence, Mission Control, enterprise security and trust, remote execution and infrastructure, or model efficiency and scale.
  • Move across frontend, backend, AI systems, data, infrastructure, and security as the initiative requires.
  • Build Codespeed with Codespeed and turn real work into a sharper product.
  • Carry ambiguous problems through written judgment, implementation, verification, rollout, and follow-through.
  • Turn customer experience into a capability that compounds.

The authority you hold

  • You are the decision owner inside a named initiative and are expected to improve its frame when your judgment reveals a better one.
  • You can work across the stack and evolve adjacent contracts with the relevant owners involved.
  • The founder owns company and product strategy. Your authority grows with the consequence of your ownership.

What makes someone exceptional here

  • You challenge the frame when it is wrong and can explain the better system before building it.
  • Your technical range spans systems, interfaces, infrastructure, and trustworthy software details.
  • You use models and agents as leverage and remain responsible for architecture, quality, and decisions.
  • You write clearly enough that another engineer or specialist can act on your judgment.

How you will work at Codespeed

You work directly with the founder, other founding engineers, customers when the initiative calls for it, and the Codespeed workforce itself. product judgment, implementation, customer experience, and company knowledge all belong to the engineering craft here.

Employment reality

All current roles are full-time and based in our New York office. During the process, we make the weekly cadence, cash compensation, equity, active benefits, relocation support, and visa posture explicit before any paid collaboration or offer.
